Question mark
Follow these simple instructions!

You will be using free online tools to complete the program. The primary means of participation will be a wiki (this wiki!).

listThe 13 Things

The wiki has all 13 Things ready to go. Within each Thing, you’ll find an explanation of what the Thing is, how people use it, and how libraries might use it.

Go to the 13 Things.

check markDiscovery Exercises

You’ll have a discovery exercise to complete that is related to the each of the 13 Things.

These discovery exercises give you the background you need to understand the tools you're learning about. Don't skip the discovery exercise in each Thing! They give you hands-on experience with these technologies.

You cannot learn about these technologies in the abstract. You must try them for yourself.

When you have done the items in each list, you’ll record your completion on the wiki. Follow the instructions on each Thing for how to record your completion.

Most lessons will require that you to create a free account on a specific website; we recommend that you use the same (or, at least similar) username and password for each. We won’t be able to look them up for you!

brainMore information for the curious

In each Thing, there will be more information for the curious. You don’t have to read it all, but if you’re curious (and you know you are), we’ve given you a way to find out more.
