I think your directions work very well. I followed them and now have a blog! I would like to know which blog hosting sites are the trendiest and specifically is blogger as popular as it used to be when it was introduced? Do certain demographics of people use certain blog sites and can you know something about a person just based on the blog address in the URL.
How do you explain the platypus?

I can't cite any statistics, but I think Blogger is still very popular. However, there are some trendy blogging platforms out there including Typepad and Wordpress. Livejournal is also very popular because it is very community-oriented as users can add others as friends and easily follow each others blogs. It seems like Livejournal appeals to the teen to 20-something crowd, where as the other blogging platforms have a wider variety of users, but that's just my personal impression.

I've set up several blogs in the past, but never really added content for my library. Hopefully, now that I've spent a little more time with Blogger, I'll be more motivated to get it really going for teachers and students. I must admit to having no interest in this. I do occasionally read blogs of bands or authors that i really like, just to peak into their brain (like Neil Gaiman) but have no real interest in doing it myself.

I could never see the attraction of blogging. Who cares what I have to say? My life isn't that exciting that anyone would be interested.
