Hello, my name is Sandy Please tell us about yourself...
Why I joined the Baker's Dozen learning program: To learn new tools that could be useful for my library, and in training.
What I want to get out of the program: To learn, have fun!
Where I work (include library name and city): City of Mesa Library, Mesa, AZ
What I do for my library: Librarian III (Business/Government Documents/Supervision)
Favorite book or author: Earth Abides by George R. Stewart, The Odd Women by George Gissing, The Expeditions by Karl Iagnemma, The Martain Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alex McCall-Smith, The Age of Missing Information by Bill McKibben, A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, anything by Barbara Kingsolver, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck...I love post-apoc fiction - latest was Go Go Girls of the Apocalypse by Victor Gischler - a GREAT read (careful who you recommend to - it's like Terminator meets Pulp Fiction...)
What else you should know about me: Love music. Favorite artists include Wilco, Imogen Heap, Brandi Carlile, U2, The Shins, The Cure, Radiohead (The Bends album specifically), also big fan of Genesis/Yes/ELP/King Crimson art rock, punk, and too many others to name. My mp3 died and, for a few months til I got a replacement, I was inconsolable! I was a dj in a previous career, and have always loved music. I also love concerts and volunteer usher - have seen some great ones. I'm also a writer (fiction) - nonpublished, but one day...Last but not least, I love photography. I have moved into digital and it's working okay.
